Technical Specifications

The accessibility of the Agri-Food Data Portal website relies on the following technologies to work: HTML, CSS, JavaScript. Additionally some pages use third party software like Qlik Sense and Microsoft PowerBI to create charts and other visualisations. The accessibility features on these pages may be limited and are conditioned by the measures set in place by the third party providers.

Non-accessible content

We are aware of some limitations to the accessibility of the portal. Below is a description of known limitations; you are invited to contact us if you encounter an accessibility issue not listed below.

Known limitations for the Agri-food data portal:

  1. Keyboard navigation: links on the website pages can be reached using keystrokes, and the navigation can be performed with the TAB key, while accessing the link can be done by pressing ENTER once a link has been selected. On the website pages that use Qlik Sense or Microsoft PowerBI to render charts and visualisations, the behavior and means of selecting and interacting with the charts can differ due to third party constraints.
  2. Keyboard focus: when selecting a link by using the keyboard navigation, some pages reflect the selection via element border, which is a line surrounding the selected link. On the website pages that use Qlik Sense or Microsoft PowerBI to render charts and visualisations, the focus can be different (blue border, underline, additonal popup windows with information and links). The accessibility features on these pages may be limited and are conditioned by the measures set in place by the third party providers.
  3. Video: the short video tutorial accessible through the "VIDEO (3 MIN)" link in the website banner does not have audio description (helpful information is displayed within the video). The video frame does not have a title.
  4. Graphs and charts – Use of colour: Many of the graphs and charts rely on colour to distinguish between different datasets under comparison. If the user has a mouse, they can hover over the chart element to see the details independently from the colour representation.
  5. Heading hierarchy: Some pages do not yet present content in a hierarchical heading organisation.
  6. API documentation: In the general section of the API documentation, the URL structure is presented as an image without alt text.
